Bed and Breakfast in Ireland

Here is Mrs. Kennedy greeting us in the morning. A truly wonderful Hostess! This was in County Tipperary. She's obviously a big Kennedy fan to. She had a beautiful mural hanging over the kitchen door of John and Robert Kennedy. I checked....no relation. As I sat in the livingroom the night before, it seemed a magpie got into the chimney and started making weird sounds. I thought...is this place haunted? I figured it out later that it was just a bird. Magpies are their version of the crow.

Here we are at our first B&B experience at Galway Bay! Here is Mrs. Lenahan serving us a hearty breakfast. The breakfast table overlooked Galway bay!

The bed and breakfast experience is wonderful. For about 100 euros for 3, (130.00 American) you have a breakfast that is unforgettable. Hope your hungry...ready? 2 eggs, toast, Irish soda bread, Irish bacon, 2 types of blood sausage, fried tomatos, fruit, cold cereal, Irish oatmeal, juice, coffee and tea. They make you feel so at home to. So, for a night in a comfy bed, and the huge breakfast, a true bargain indeed! The only way to see Ireland. We just showed up during the later part of the day and announced ourselves Most had room for us, without reservations. Some take vouchers that the travel agent gives you ahead of time. We went during the off season so reservations were really not necessary. If you do the B&B thing, cash works better and reservations are recommended. More and more places are not taking the vouchers anymore because the travel agencies get a share causing the B&B to loose about 20 euros or so. I would rather have these B&B's pocket all the money. They deserve it. Here are some of the places we stayed in!

With a bright Irish smile, Mrs O'reilly tends to our breakfast as she gets the little ones ready for school in the next room. This was in the town of Doolin, on the West coast. A hop skip and a jump to the Cliffs of Moher
This is Mrs.Monahan below ,located in the town of Dingle. The night we showed up, She invited me into her livingroom as I sipped my coffee. She had many questions about the States back home. We really hit it off pretty well. Here she is with some Irish oatmeal. It needs to be soaked overnight so it's soft enough to cook for about an hour. A little milk and butter...wow! This is before the eggs and the rest of the goodies.
